The striking thing about chatbots is that their confidence remains the same whether the answer is correct or wildly wrong. I imagine it would be possible to tune it down, so that it would be more cautious, but that would apply to everything yielding answers "most texts say 2+2 =4, but I haven't found experimental confirmation of this".

Slightly relatedly, the latest version of ChatGPT Deep Research seems to unaware of the second Trump Administration. I asked it about Trump's military purges and it came back with unrelated stuff from the first term, then denied knowledge of anything in the second term.
