Unless a large number of lifelong Republicans make a permanent break with the party, the US is doomed, even in the event of a big Democratic win in 2028. No democracy can survive when 40 per cent of the population are reliably fascist.
Justice Jackson demonstrates a thorough command of the history and law surrounding this point. Thank you for presenting it. I might have missed it and it was a pleasure to read.
Note how much energy on the Right - including Justices T&A - goes into fretting about birth tourism, a tiny fraction of those affected by Trump's executive order. Justice Thomas goes on and on about "domicile," but the undocumented are overwhelmingly domiciled here and nowhere else. They rent housing, work jobs, have taxes withheld. If President Caligula had written a narrow order to define and limit citizenship for the children of birth tourists he might have had a chance. But that is not what the Right wanted and not the issue before the court.
America at the time of the 14th had a huge expanse of sparsely settled territory and a huge appetite for more workers for the factories of our industrial revolution. Viewed from that perspective, the "you all come" amendment is understandable.
I feel that much of the anti emigrant agitatation is due to the perceived loss of White Male Privilege.
The press keeps on treating Trump diarrhetic lies as thoughtful statements of policy. You don't, but you continue in treating the statements of the Right to the ignorance side of the Incompetence/Mendacious complement. Science requires a lot of effort to render truth.
Why not "Matt Walsh lied: ‘It turns out that Amy Coney Barrett is a DEI hire, little better than Kentanji Jackson. Terrible pick… "
I mean, "I can't believe he is so ignorant. He must be lying." isn't a bad starting point. Prove me wrong.

Probably true, but overlooks the fact that immigration expands the GDP over which privalege is exercised.
We will have Jackson and her intelligence well after Thomas is gone.
This Southern Strategy monster assembled by the Republican Party may wind up eating us all.
Racism, masculinism, ressentiment. All else is commentary.

I agree with the post, but why ACB as the image?
Why should any of us be surprised at this? I just finished the Haberman/Swan book, 'Regime Change.' Amazing how much detail they report out.
And the irony (as in what skews our moral compass) that the Trump Whisperer Maggie Haberman is now perceived as a reliable source on the Trump...
