Thanks, Brad, for identifying with and linking Clark’s musing on holy Saturday. Robert penn Warren’s “Blessed Accident” goes with this sentiment:

- - - the tremor, the tremble

of God’s palsied hand shaking the dice cup.

Ah, blessed accident.

I believe? Or I wish I could believe? :-)

Why is Fred Clark a one-way communicator?

This seems to explain a lot about Judaism. It's a Saturday religion. The messiah has yet to return and all one can do is maintain faith and fight for his or her ideals in this world.

IMO it's plausible that the meek shall inherit the earth. Humans are 100 times less likely than chimpanzees to use reactive violence. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt-HEMUSf3A Humans vs Chimps: Who is more violent? | Richard Wrangham and Lex Fridman also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYSvCb14JjU How modern humans beat the neanderthals | Richard Wrangham and Lex Fridman

Humans could well be domesticating themselves. Soldiers kill one another in wars though they mostly target civilians as they are easier to kill. Soldiers killing one another is a method of selective breeding.

"What warrant do we have for any belief or even hope that there is any sort of arc tending the world toward justice? And if they were, shouldn’t that properly terrify us all?"

Use any man after his desert and who should 'scape whipping?
