This habit of "asking AI", sharing the response and treating the response like some kind of religious scripture is spreading like wildfire (please forgive the idiom) and feels like a mind virus. People I once admired do it with conviction. The realisation that they lack the insight and sophistication to recognise their self-deception is dismaying, to say the least.

I don't know how to respond to this kind of ignorance. You'd have to start from first principles, but the time this requires just keeps expanding as a power of the amount of AI slop. There is no keeping up with it.

For now, I am taking it as a signal to not waste my time arguing with the person doing it. But it makes me sad.
