There is an evident pattern in financial regulation by the US government that emerged from the Citizens United decision. If there are two alternatives on the table, one that benefits citizens but reduces systemic rents and one that increases rents (whether or not it benefits citizens), the US will opt for the one that increases rents because it is the rent seekers who pay to elect our representatives. At this point, we should abandon the term rent seekers and simply call them rent extractors. Until and unless Citizens United is overturned, rent extraction (and the game of heads I win, tales somebody else loses) is here to stay.

AFAICT, the use of crypto, including stablecoins, in actual purchases of goods and services, is non-existent. How will the Genius Act change this. And in the absence of transactions, where is the saving in transaction costs.
