While unseen in the USA, demand for solar in the rest of the world has soared. In many poorer nations diesel generators provide a lot of local power, usually to cover frequent power shortages. Solar is seen as at least a partial alternative. Most of this solar is manufactured in China, which has a large glut of panels. Also consumer incentives to purchase EVs versus gas cars. Similiar logic applies to utility decisions, with solar and natural gas in competition. Uncertainty of future supply and/or price influences the decision makers. Note this also applies to BESS (Battery Electric Storage Solutions), demand is growing. Sodium Ion has reached the point where major investments in manufacturing are being made. Even in the USA, both Ford and GM are making a partial pivot from EV batteries (US EV demand is being suppressed by the Trump regime) towards BESS using Sodium Ion batteries.

So the Silver lining from this disruption, is that the energy transition is getting a much needed boost.
