Wile E. & Wilma Coyote: Sibley Volcanic Park at Dawn
Sometimes when attending plays at the California Shakespeare Festival (an outdoor venue near Orinda, thus not far from your sighting ) we have heard coyotes on the hillsides, singing.
Back when we moved here a pack would "sing" every night. Now not so much. That said our cameras have been viewing a single in the back yard.
