Re critical race theory. I always thought it was an attempt to explain the poor economic/social/health etc.

The Right's answer is they are inferior and got what they deserve.

Too often the other answer is some mixture of undeserving poor and bad culture.

The facts seem to be pervasive systemic racism.

The current anti-CRT movement seems to paraphrase the Wilde man, the hate that dare not speak it's name.

My feeling on critical race theory is that it focuses on poor African Americans. There are lots of poor white people who have the same condition, who are given a derogatory name. No one has created a theory for them. At any rate, I feel there is too much focus on “poor,” and not enough on the erosion of culture which perpetuates this cycle. In other words, there are many rural places with poor blacks who have a strong social bonding and, in this age, are fighting so hard to protect it.

re: Construction of Manufacturing Facilities.

Compare and contrast the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act with the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. What did they cost, who did they help, and how much did they increase trend employment and investment?

Democrats need to build a narrative and hammer it relentlessly. They need bullet points.

They also need to change the narrative on the China trade war: Trump's tariffs weren't nearly as effective as Biden's global coalition of supply chain diversification away from China.

Can’t help but repost might newest thoughts on Apple Vision Pro VR: It is a very complex piece which replicates surround vision and sound in high detail and is super expensive for an entertainment piece. It is being made in China. What are the possibilities that this is a technology exchange with China. This would be used to upgrade their helmet mounted display for fighter pilots, esp 360 degree viewing, eye tracking, gesture display control, etc. They were working on this technology last year.

So, the solution is to not study/outlaw this topic because there are other injustices in the world? And your comment states as a fact the assumption of an erosion of culture as the cause of poor performance. Sounds like the "culture" answer.

I hypothesize that the poor whites (or the poor whatever) are the result of policies, mostly governmental, which benefit a relatively small but powerful percent of the population. e.g. not having/enforcing anti-redlining laws is a governmental policy.

No, we have not seen anything like this boom before: Yes!! I'm waiting to see the marginal product of capital (as you pointed out some time ago), fingers crossed. Going by the monthly surveys of manufacturing such as the one by the ISM and S&P Global, manufacturing activity is currently in the dumps, in the US and globally. For the US, I suppose, none of this is currently registering in the surveys, for a building in progress is not a going manufacturing concern yet. (Although, if it is not registering under the "construction" parts of those surveys, then we have a major problem right away). But someone needs to keep a close eye on this issue. And, I mean, someone should be paid to keep an eye on this, for those manufacturing surveys may come to suffer from a HUGE sample selection bias if these new manufacturing outfits are not brought into the purview of the surveys.

Also, as an aside, the NFIB survey's most recent result on expected capital spending over the next 3-6 months has jumped. I was surprised. Although, a perception that the Fed is mostly done could prompt such a response.

Thank you for exposing me to Auden’s great poem.

If Apple Vision can run Excel spreadsheets, I might be interested. If it's only a "better way" to stream Internet content, I am definitely not interested.
