An economic lend/lease program for Asian democratic (or proto-democratic) allies to strengthen them against the appeasement of Chinas (soft) aggression?

A good speech with a great vision. Pity the vision was never fulfilled.

A cynic would argue that the same argument about anti-democratic nations trying to control the world could (was?) used to fight communism post-WWII, with the disastrous war in Vietnam. It could be used today especially with regard to China.

The US remains the largest supplier of arms on the planet today. Eisenhower warned about this, but his words went unheeded. The nation has arguably lost its compass for the 4 freedoms domestically, and its proxy wars have caused similar failures globally (although not entirely of the US own making).

We are in cynical times. It seems like we are following similar paths to the collapse of prior empires, but this time the collapse might bring down the rest of the planet.
